As you all have heard by now, or if I’m unfortunately breaking the news to you, starting on December 17th 2018 tumblr will start to ban ALL nsfw content.
This includes fanart smut, which is the art I’ve posted here. However I would like to state that I’m fortunate that this won’t impact me financially, unlike other people on here who either draw porn or are sex workers. If you know people who will be financially impacted by this decision, go show them some support. There are many levels of fuckery to this decision that they have made (I see you, “female-presenting nipples”, way to fuck the trans community over) but I’ll save you some time and just boil it down to: gotdamn fucking idiots.
What will happen (according to their explanation in their most recent TOS update concerning adult content) is that this blog will still be here, but any nsfw art or content that I have posted will be flagged and changed into a private post. What that means for you is that you will no longer be able to see it, which defeats the purpose of this side blog.
I’m not entirely sure what I’m going to do if tumblr really does go through with this, and I’m suspicious it’s possibly tied to the impending pass of Article 13 in the EU. I don’t want to post nsfw on Instagram because I have family on there and would hate for it to get back to me. I don’t feel comfortable posting nsfw on Twitter either because I grew up in the 90’s fandom days with Anne Rice and I don’t want that art to get back to the actors/actresses/show runners. And I’m trying to NOT go back to DeviantArt for personal preferences. I have been thinking about those alternatives for a while and I still haven’t found a compelling enough argument to move my nsfw art to those platforms.
My immediate plan right now, is to keep going like normal. You can still follow me over on my main blog for bad jokes and fandom and memes, on Instagram for a more curated look at my art and general shenanigans, or on Twitter for a mix of that.
One last thing I’m working on is a PillowFort account, username BigMammaLlama5 (I need to check if I did make is case sensitive or if it’s all lowercase, but I will link it here soon). When their site is back up and running hopefully in a few days from security maintenance I will start mirroring my art onto there as well. Keep in mind that PF is still in beta and will be limiting the user influx to keep the servers up, but that looks like my best bet for the time being. Here’s to hoping they become a real thing…
Other than that, this is what the situation concerning the art on this blog is.
Lastly, thank you all for following me the past few years, and I hope that this ultimately isn’t goodbye for good.
